Three people were killed and 10 were injured in a mass shooting at a bar and restaurant in the Turks and Caicos Islands in the early morning hours of July 27. Authorities say the mass shooting, which took place shortly before 3 a.m. at the Islands Hookah and Cigar Lounge in Providenciales, is the first of its kind in recent memory. "This deeply disturbing event has shaken families and the wider communities," Police Commissioner Fitz Bailey said in apress conferenceJuly 27. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, Bailey said, and another 10 individuals suffered injuries ranging from "minor to serious." They were transported to an area hospital, and, as of July 28, two people have been discharged. One of the victims remains in serious conditions, authorities said. Authorities have not announced any arrests or confirmed any suspects in the shooting, as of thelatest updatesfrom the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force the afternoon of July 28. More:Missing man's body found following Turks and Caicos disappearance Bailey said police responded to reports of gunfire at the nightspot at approximately 2:57 a.m. Authorities later identified them as 25-year-old Yeiscol Rhinel Rodriguez Florestino, 27-year-old Erlin Dorastin and 39-year-old Keell Silver. Turks and Caicos police said they are working with local and international partners to "ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice for this act," and urge anyone with information to contact them. Crime stoppers is offering a reward of $10,000 for information related to the shooting, police said. The shooting comes a few months after the U.S. State Departmentupdated a Level 2 travel advisoryfor the Turks and Caicos Islands, due to crime,particularly in Providenciales, the nation's most populated island.
